Myoung Shin Hilson, MA, LPC-I
Myoung Shin Hilson completed her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at the University of Houston Clear Lake and is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kyoungpook National University in South Korea.
Myoung Shin has twenty one and a half years of teaching experience in Seoul, South Korea, and has been honored as Teacher of the Year and as a Silver Medalist in the Seoul Science Teachers Research Competition.
Myoung Shin cherishes her role as a mental health professional, and has a strong desire to serve the community as a counselor and mediator. She believes that clients are the best experts about themselves. She wants to help her clients explore their own strengths and values to live the richest and fullest life possible. She has a passion for helping clients reconcile with people whom they are in conflict with through mediation. Her approach to therapy is a combination of person-centered, existential, cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and family system theory.
As a Korean living in a foreign country, Myoung Shin is committed to working with clients who face challenges, such as acculturation, identity, generational conflicts, relationship and family issues. Myoung Shin is fluent in Korean and English.
